Are You just One of Them or Not?

Odd one out 300x225 Are You just One of Them or Not?

The beauty in this photo is the odd one that stands out from the rest. What is different is unique. What is different is beautiful.

We are born differently from one another

We are uniquely created by God. We can see it from the structure of our bodies, the intricate patterns of our hands to the delicate prints of our skin. Embracing our differences is appreciating who we are as children of God.

Being different is what makes the difference

It takes guts to be different from the mob. If you use to follow what your friends say then that means you do not have your own drive in life. If you feel that something is not right and you don’t say it because you are afraid to be different from the agreeable group then you are losing your voice. Each time you turn down your fight to be different; you are losing a chance to be closer to who you are.

To be different does not need comparison or approval

I have always love the song Stay the Same by Joey Mcintyre. The lyrics sing it perfectly about loving oneself without wishing to be somebody else.

Don’t you ever wish you were someone else,
You were meant to be the way you are exactly.
Don’t you ever say you don’t like the way you are. When you learn to love yourself, you¹re better off by far.

We don’t need approval from others to start something different. I have known someone who likes to dress a little bit differently. For example, her style is having a blue flip flop on one foot and then a purple one on the other. Some might have judged her to be “wrongly dressed” or even call her “weirdo”. But honestly, what if a lot of people are already doing the same thing in the first place? Would her style become more acceptable? I think that is how trend comes alive. One uniquely brave individual steps up and do something brow-raising under the public’s eye at first and then eventually the style, behavior or trend is being followed.

Stand up, stand out, and be boldly different!

As different as we all are, we have to value one another’s differences. We have to respect the opinions, styles, attitudes, make up, speech and many other complexities that come from each person. Moreover, being different comes with a responsibility to hear others out about what they say about you. It’s about having an open mind without the feeling of being robbed at.

Think innovatively. Always strive to do something that other people haven’t come up with yet. Say “NO” if you don’t want to. Say “YES” for responsibilities that can help change the world. Regard oneself highly with passion. Always remember that we have one life to live and that we should live it into the direction of our dreams.
