This quick sketch (in watercolor) was done during the external audit for ISO20K. I am working under the Quality Services Team. The external auditor from BSI (British Standards Institution) is from New Delhi India but he said he is currently residing in Singapore as part of his work. I admire him very much because of his intelligence, humor and stories. We learned a lot from him during his two-day stay.
Whenever I look at him I can’t help but hope that I am as good as him in terms of my own craft. Someone very confident. Someone passionate. Someone who can teach and impart lessons. Then I realize that I can never get there without many years of experience. I know that I am getting there to where my dreams lie…slowly. I need to focus. I need to work hard. I need to embrace who I am and what I am capable of doing. I need courage. I need to take risk.

this is so beautifully written. It’s so difficult when you can see where you want to be and know you’re not there yet. (whether it’s art or any other skill). I’m trying to hard to be patient with myself. I’m reading your last sentences and nodding my head. focus, work hard, embrace, courage, risk. yes, yes, yes.

what an inspiration.

What an awesome talent you have, Elisa. I don’t think I could do a quick sketch if my life depended on it. I like what you have written. It’s so important to be true to ourselves and not try to be someone else. It’s a lesson I am still working on, in my old age.

It’s nice that you thought of all these things when you drew him. It will remind you about all these things you feel you need. I am sure you are on your way. How are you doing with the cards? Patsy from HeARTworks

Thank you Patsy! Sometimes we have to be constantly reminded on these valuable lessons in life. I hope so too.. As for the cards, it’s still fairly a long way to go. I am having a hard time thinking of designs. Thanks for asking! :)

Thanks so much Faye…your comment means a lot to me. As for the quick sketch, you can do it. It’s all about trying to do something rather than worrying and over thinking. I suggest you take a sketchbook with you if you can or a paper and pencil and just draw what’s in front of you. With practice you are training your eye to see and appreciate more what’s around you. :)

Exactly my sentiment all the time. But then again to get there we need those essential values. We can do it! :)

Your sketch is excellent Elisa! I love what you wrote. It reminds me of the many people who have inspired me in similar ways. I too feel that I have a long way to go to realize my dreams, but more and more I am finding that it is the journey, not the destination, that has been so remarkably wonderful so far!!!

Thanks so much for your awesome comment! I love what you said about reaching for our dreams… it’s definitely the journey that is so worth it. Thank you!

What a great sketch! I wish I could do quick little watercolor sketches, but I don’t seem to have the knack. you certainly do (and make it look so effortless!).

You have definitely got it all together, and you are right, it takes time and experience. But with your determination, you Will get there. Blessings, Janet PPF

Thanks a lot Anne. I admit it’s not easy but if it’s important to you (learning to make sketches or the enjoyment of it) you will certainly find a way. :) Try it!
