The Sketchbook Project 2012

The Sketchbook Project is like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks.

This wonderful initiative was started by 2 high school boys at Atlanta last 2006. At first small, little did they know that this will be a grand venue for all artist to do what they love and share these to the world. I wanted to join since last year but the sign up is closed already. This year I grab the chance and will be joining thousands of artists from around the world for the Sketchbook Project 2012 tour.

How it works is that I have signed up for a copy of sketchbook then it will be shipped to my place. The theme that I have chosen is Writing on the Wall but not necessarily mean we have to stick to it. I will put in my creativity like drawing, photography, watercolor, etc then I must ship it back before Jan 31 2012 to Brooklyn Art Library, New York City.

What happens next is the exciting part. All completed Sketchbooks will be part of the 2012 tour starting late April (I think) going to 14 cities in North America and other parts of the world. Our sketchbooks will be enjoyed and viewed by many people from other countries! It’s like an exposure of your work only it’s way cooler! After the tour ends, the bar-coded sketchbooks will be archived in the Brooklyn Art Library for public viewing.

I received my package yesterday. That’s my empty sketchbook!

It took about 2-3 weeks for the package to arrive. The book contains 32 pages. My mind is already reeling with creative juices. I plan to start soon and hope to finish by December 1, 2011. I will document and share my work here.

For more information and how to join, please visit The Sketchbook Project.

Definitely a challenge. A small project. An opportunity. Something new. I just love the idea of sketchbooks touring.

Who’s in? :)

Update: My digitize sketchbook can be found here.

Thanks a lot! I think we will all have a moment of finding ourselves and knowing what we want to do in life. What we want might change but it’s entirely up to us. I’m still finding myself honestly.. :)
